Some Interview Questions for Waiter / Waitress:

1. What is your greatest strength?

“I believe my experience—I’ve been a waitress for three years—would be my greatest strength. I am accustomed to working both alone and as a member of a team.”

2. What is your weakness?

“I can become quite stressed out because I prioritise satisfying customers. Despite knowing that you can’t satisfy every consumer, I still want to prove that I’m a skilled worker.”

3. What experience do you have?

“I have previous restaurant experience, have worked busy shifts, and am accustomed to serving big groups of people. Based on my experience, I feel at ease conversing with customers.”

4. What do you like least about being a waitress?

“I suppose that serving dissatisfied customers is my least favorite aspect of the job. There are instances when a consumer shows up in a foul attitude and complains about everything you do. It’s okay; I’m used to it and am aware of how to maintain my professionalism at all times.”

5. Describe a time you had to overcome a challenge

“I had to work on Christmas Day at my previous job. I had to help with three Christmas parties because it was hectic, which was quite difficult.

I served the larger parties alongside another server so that they wouldn’t have to wait as long for their dinner because we worked as a team to serve them. Food was flowing out quickly, and guests were asking for more drinks, so I had to be alert.”

Give specifics; the interviewer wants to know how you handled the difficulty and whether it ended successfully.

6. Do you have experience making and/or serving desserts?

“I have prior ice cream sundae making experience. My manager showed me how to prepare them properly when I first started at my previous work, and ever since then, I’ve followed the recipe and directions.”

7. How would you deal with an angry customer?

“I would attempt to come up with a solution after listening to the client. If I can’t solve the issue on my own, I would seek out my manager or another senior employee.”

8. Do you have bar experience?

“A few years back, I used to work on a bar. I picked up the art of mixing drinks and pouring draught beer.”

9.  Can you make coffees using a coffee machine?

“I am happy to operate the machines as necessary because I have expertise working as a barista.”

10. Why do you think you would make a great addition to our team?

“I’ve previously worked in restaurants, and I believe I got along with everyone there. I perform my duties and am willing to assist anyone who requires it. I like getting to know my coworkers and laughing with them.”
