Research Assistant Jobs Toronto, The Community, Partnership and Innovation (CPI) department and The Anti Racism Black Consultation and Training Group at Surrey Place are seeking a Research Assistant who has lived experiences as a member of the Black community.

Reporting to the EDI Manager, CPI department, the Research Assistant will work as part of an interdisciplinary team responsible for providing general assistance in research and evaluation initiatives being carried out within the organization. as part of the Anti-Racism, Anti-Hate Grant (ARAH) Grant Program initiative obtained.

Main Responsibilities

  • Collecting data
  • Maintaining and organizing data
  • Analyzing data and preparing reports in a timely manner
  • Conducting statistical analyses, using SPSS or other statistical packages
  • Preparing draft reports and articles (for submission to journals, conferences, etc.)
  • Carrying out literature searches, abstracting and interpreting information from the literature
  • Liaising and building relationships with grassroots organizations that support Black clients and their families who have Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD)

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma with a major in health, education, psychology, social and community services, or another allied health discipline
  • Previous research experience in anti-racism, social justice, or equity studies
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) work
  • Has experience in Black community-driven, social justice, and trauma-informed approaches
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodology
  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills
  • Strong communication skills, verbally and in writing, including email communication
    Ability to work in a self-directed way
  • Computer skills including Excel, Survey Monkey, and Qualitative data analysis software
  • Knowledge of Power BI is considered an asset
  • Fluency in French is considered an asset
  • The successful candidate must provide an acceptable Vulnerable Sector Screening and proof of being fully vaccinated for Covid-19
