The Role: In our accelerated growth journey and mission to Do Some Good® for animals and the planet, we are looking for a dynamic People Operations Coordinator to support Open Farm’s rapid growth objectives by elevating our culture and finding opportunities to embed our values, while balancing company objectives with employee wellbeing and high engagement.

The ideal candidate savvy multi-tasker who can understand the business quickly and critically think about ways we set the example for an exceptional culture. We are looking for someone with strong business acumen, excellent organizational and operational capabilities, and an exceptional ability to positively influence the best people management practices across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the administration of human resource programs and initiatives including, but not limited to wellness and benefits programs, performance and talent management; reward and recognition, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and occupational health and safety.
  • Administer our bi-weekly US and Canadian payroll and RRSP and 401K plans
  • Leads the recruitment of Co-op and Summer Students and administers summer student grant submission
  • Manage Short Term Disability claims including regular follow-ups to the employee and provide updates to supervisors of return to work
  • Provides first-line support for employee relations issues, working with the employee, manager and escalating to the Director or SVP of People Operations when required
  • Create standard and ad-hoc reports and letters (i.e., Headcount, employment confirmation letters, total compensation statements, and travel letters)
  • Administer company programs including education wellness stipend, Employee celebrations, birthday cards, etc.
  • Accountable for end-to-end HRIS system management maintaining data integrity whilst protecting the privacy of your employees
  • Lead on organizing company team-building events such as townhalls and retreats

What you bring to the table

  • Love of pets!
  • 2+ years of progressive human resources experience; CPG experience is considered an asset.
  • Empathetic communicator with superior interpersonal skills, ability to maintain professional boundaries & confidentiality, and approach issues with objectivity, diplomacy, sensitivity, and empathy.
  • Embrace continuous improvement by proposing new and/or better ways of doing things; ability to think proactively and independently
  • Able to lead and make effective, timely decisions while dealing with ambiguity, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in changing circumstances
  • Entrepreneurial, passionate, and enthusiastic to work in a fast-growing company
  • Roll up your sleeves attitude with a demonstrated sense of ownership and accountability, taking personal responsibility for decisions, actions, successes, and failures
  • Excel at managing multiple stakeholders – this role will have you supporting a rapidly growing business with multiple cross-functional stakeholders
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple priorities
  • Advanced PowerPoint and excel skills
